Management of Canine Tracheal Collapse

Tracheal collapse is a common obstructive airway disorder in toy and small-breed dogs presenting with a constellation of respiratory signs dependent on severity of collapse. This lecture will review the diagnostic and therapeutic work up, with an emphasis on identification of co-morbid conditions that are likely to influence outcome.

Carol Reinero

Professor, Small Animal Internal Medicine
University of Missouri

Dr. Reinero received her DVM in 1995 from the University of California-Davis. She completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Rotating Internship from 1995-1996 at Texas A&M University and returned to UC Davis to complete a Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency from 1996-1998. She received her PhD in Immunology in 2004 from UC Davis. She is currently an Associate Professor and the Director of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Reinero has spoken nationally and internationally on respiratory diseases in small animals and has published close to 100 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. She has served as a past president for the Veterinary Comparative Respiratory Society.
