Patient Enrollment Models and Tips for Residents

Family physicians are educated and trained primarily in clinical areas. They spend many years acquiring clinical skills, yet are now faced with a multitude of business decisions they may not have considered during medical training. The purpose of this program is to answer common questions physicians ask when entering practice.

Dr. Banach is a family physician in Toronto as well as an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.

After completing medical school and Family Medicine Residency at McMaster University, Dr. Banach practiced Family Medicine in New York before returning to practice in Ontario.

He currently practices in a Family Health Organization but has previously practiced in both Fee for Service and the Family Health Group models.

    Ryan Banach

    James Draper

    Regional Advisor

    James Draper is a Regional Advisor with HealthForceOntario. He assists communities in Ontario to reach their physician recruitment and retention goals. He works closely with Queen’s University and provides personal job-search assistance and career advice to the medical residents there. He has assisted physicians to transition out of practice by finding a replacement physician or providing practice closure support. Prior to this James managed medical affairs for a large clinical group in the GTA. He oversaw the recruitment and ongoing client and clinical management for the group’s 16 clinics. His focus was on recruiting retiring physicians and assisting them transition out of practice. He has also managed the Continuing Medical Education Program for the Ontario College of Family Physicians.
