OCFP Members Forum - Managing Pain & Addressing Opioids – Supports for Family Physicians

Friday, November 24
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

The growing concern and changing expectations around the use of opioids raises critical and difficult questions for family physicians about how they can best provide high-quality, safe and compassionate care to their patients living with chronic pain, and deliver that care without creating unintended consequences. Panelists from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health Quality Ontario, Family Physician leaders, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and Centre for Effective Practice will provide updates that will contribute to:

• Gaining insight about the provincial opioid strategy and the MSK strategy, how they are connected, and how they address pain management and the opioid crisis
• Understanding the regulatory College’s strategy and expectations regarding opioids
• Learning about new and emerging supports and resources, how they can be accessed and how they can help family physicians caring for their patients living with chronic pain
