Learning Focus: Leadership and Career Development

The future of academic dentistry is in the hands of student academic leaders, and the time to plan to meet the needs for future dental faculty is now. How does one decide to make academic dentistry a career? Students undoubtedly take diverse paths that lead to such a decision, and their stories are inspiring. In this 60-minute Short Talk session, students will take us on their journeys to becoming our academic leaders of 2030. Student participants will gain information to start or continue preparation for a career in academic dentistry.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify potential academic leadership activities or programs.
• Gain ideas to develop an academic leadership activity at their home institution.
• Form and participate in a student academic leadership network.
