Adhesive bonding success of tooth conserving direct and indirect restorations is well published in the current literature. The challenge of integrating these restorations with greater frequency into the comprehensive clinic can be overcome with a belief that better outcomes are obtained when risk factors are identified and effectively managed, there is an increased awareness to evidence-based data, and strict adherence to protocols. Minimally invasive techniques that maintain healthy tooth structure and the ability to create an environment that limits the effects of disease and promotes remineralization are strategies that will be routinely used for the 2030 graduate.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the evidence-based success or failure of minimally invasive dentistry and bonded onlay or partial coverage ceramic restorations and how to implement appropriate protocols into the curriculum.
- Envision the future of operative dentistry with minimally invasive techniques and state-of-the-art technology, and how to translate these concepts into the comprehensive clinic.
- Share ideas for the "Vision of Operative Restoratiive Dentistry and Biomaterials 2030" to design a launching platform for educating our future graduates.
