Competency-based education traditionally documents student performance in a single location. New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD) developed a process to document clinical and non-clinical competencies, all captured in the EHR. Detailed competency reports, exported daily into the ePortfolio, allow students to view the result. If a student fails to demonstrate competency, they must document reflections directly in the ePortfolio as to why they were not competent and measures they will take to ensure competency next time. During this presentation, we will demonstrate NYUCD EHR/ePortfolio integration. You will learn how this approach enhances student understanding of competency-based education.
