One in five Americans will be 65 years old or more by 2030, with a large increase of medically complex and frail geriatric patients. This "Short Talks" session consists of a series of five minute talks highlighting innovative educational models from around the country that prepare students to care for a rapidly aging population. The ensuing discussion will provide the framework to imagine a Vision 2030 that includes comprehensive oral health care for our aging parents, family and friends in a variety of conventional and non-conventional dental settings.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the role of IPE in advancing the capacity of dental students to care for older adults.
- Discuss the strengths of and opportunities for collaboration to address the complexities of treating older adults.
- Identify opportunities to enhance oral health education and oral hygiene practice for older adults and their caregivers.
