CD-002 - Dental Therapy CODA Accreditation: Implications for Existing and New Programs

The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved implementation of dental therapy educational accreditation standards in 2015. Presenters from existing dental therapy educational programs—Ilisagvik College in Alaska; the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, Metropolitan State University and Normandale Community College in Minnesota; and a newly developing program in Oregon—will describe how they are adapting or implementing their programs to meet the CODA standards. Participants will discuss how they might implement dental therapy programs in their home institutions.
Learning Objectives:
- The participants will understand the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accreditation and educational standards for dental therapy.
- The participants will describe how existing and new dental therapy educational programs are adapting their programs to meet the CODA Accreditation Standards.
- The participants will discuss and describe how they might implement a dental therapy educational program at their home institution.
