Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Dental Medicine's (RSDM) Special Populations Interprofessional Care Experiences (SPICE) program seeks to improve training for health professionals to increase access to and quality of oral healthcare. This program includes several interprofessional education experiences throughout the four years of the dental medicine curriculum, interprofessional case review conferences and interprofessional patient care experiences in clinical settings and facilitator's training. Participants will learn about the RSDM model for interprofessional education and strategize ways to develop this program more broadly throughout dental education.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify several modes of delivering interprofessional education to dental students and understand how students perceive interprofessional interactions.
- Strategize ways to increase interprofessional education at their institution.
- Design a facilitators' training that fits the objectives of their school's curriculum.
