Location: Sun Ballroom 1&2

Target Audience: Administrator
Learning Focus: Admissions, Financial Aid and Student Services
Given the low attrition of dental students, the selection of candidates is a critical process that impacts patient safety and satisfaction. A particular challenge is to assess non-cognitive traits such as conscientiousness and the ability to think critically. Participants will gain an understanding of the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) as a measure of non-cognitive traits and recognize its contribution to a more holistic evaluation process. This workshop will describe the construction and implementation of the MMI and present data on its reliability and validity. Participants will engage in an online poll, small group discussions and a simulated MMI session.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the need for alternative interviewing practices such as the MMI.
- Understand the psychometrics of an MMI.
- Learn how to construct and coordinate an MMI.
