Mentorship at any career level provides essential technical and emotional support critical for professional success. This student-run session explores the development and implementation of peer mentorship programs in dental schools across North America. Such programs allow for problem-focused tutoring sessions tailored to the individual student’s needs and encourage increased collaboration among dental students. By sharing their insights, student mentors can form a bond with their mentees that lasts well into their professional careers. With this vision in mind, student presenters discuss the value of a peer mentorship program and the indelible impact it has on dental students.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the value of student-run peer mentorship programs and their impact on the educational experience.
- Gain tools and strategies that will allow them to implement a formal peer mentoring program at their home institution.
- Develop and collaborate with a network of peers from across North America for advice and support when implementing a formal peer-mentorship program.
