Team-based Learning (TBL) is an educational methodology that is increasingly utilized in health professions schools. The educational methodology emphasizes student accountability for their own learning by forcing students to learn the materials beforehand in order to contribute to team discussions and participate in the class.
The purpose of this study is to describe the development and implementation of a team-based learning (TBL) educational model in an interprofessional education course using Canvas. A secondary objective is to discuss the effectiveness of TBL in promoting student learning and in providing well-planned faculty development opportunities.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the development of a Team-Based Learning (TBL) educational model in interprofessional education.
- Utilize Canvas to design the readiness assurance tests and team application exercises.
- Describe the use of TBL in promoting student learning.
