Monday, March 19
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Osceola Ballroom 3&4

Target Audience: Faculty
Learning Focus: Curriculum Development

Section/SIG: Anatomical Sciences, Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Microbiology, Integrated Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, Pharamacology, and Therapeutics
As institutions move towards integrated curricula, educators must help students explore integrated biomedical and clinical material and engage in active learning. Activities like problem-based learning and case-based learning can address these goals. Unfortunately, faculty often do not know how to develop integrated cases for use in these settings. Learn how to start the process of case writing for an integrated curriculum and gain practice with these techniques during this workshop. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to craft an effective case, troubleshoot challenges and will return to their home institutions with multiple case outlines.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the value of working collaboratively on case writing for an integrated curriculum.
- Develop a framework for a specific integrated case that can be used at dental education institutions.
- Troubleshoot ongoing challenges associated with case writing for an integrated curriculum.
