Learning Focus: Emerging Issues and Trends
Dental and dental hygiene schools continue to experience faculty shortages. Demographics of faculty are changing. Who will be the faculty by 2030? Where will they come from? To meet the oral health care needs of the future it is imperative to plan for faculty needs now. An innovative faculty recruitment program promoting the many benefits of academic dentistry to seasoned private practitioners has been implemented. Participants will learn the current status of this recruitment effort, and collaborate on other novel ideas on how to best attract the dental educators of tomorrow.
Learning Objectives:

- Consider a non-traditional faculty recruitment program recently implemented including the most recent results.
- Collaborate with colleagues in identifying innovative recruitment ideas and activities schools may implement as they plan for future faculty needs.
