In 2030, competency assessment will have evolved to using precisely designed combinations of "authentic assessments" to provide a richer definition of competence. This seminar will discuss the use of IBM's Watson analytics to connect clinical assessment data sources to a core performance heat map in real time. The presentation will show live data analytics that follows predental applicants through residency performance. These technologies will be used to identify deficits in student knowledge and will identify students who are gifted in certain disciplines. This seminar will provide a glimpse into "big data" in the future of educational analytics.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how the use of advanced analytics in the evaluation of student progress toward clinic competence.
- Describe how different assessment methods combine to provide a richer schema for clinical competence.
- Understand the use of big data to follow data from predental students through residency education.
