Whether used in articles, posters or other forms of presentation, tables and figures can efficiently present data beyond what's in the text. They can also help convey the meaning authors intend and emphasize what they want readers/viewers to remember. This workshop will help participants critically evaluate visual displays and choose the best graphic form for various types of information. JDE editors will share tips and tricks to make tables and figures most effective and powerful. In interactive discussions, participants will learn how to apply principles to their own illustrations. Both general principles and JDE requirements will be included.
Learning Objectives:
- Critically assess different types of tables, graphs, charts and other figures, and use best practice principles to evaluate each.
- Reflect on how to use illustrations to communicate meaning and importance.
- Apply tips and guidelines to make participants’ own tables and figures more powerful to increase likelihood of publication and communicate more effectively.
