While instructional videos have become increasingly commonplace in libraries, videos created for the sole purpose of marketing libraries are far less prevalent. Video marketing is one of the most powerful forms of marketing available today and should be leveraged by information professionals. However, beginners may feel intimidated by the seemingly complex process of video production.
This session provides information professionals of all experience levels the building blocks needed to create successful marketing videos. In this session, the authors of Video Marketing for Libraries: A Practical Guide for Librarians will provide practical, hands on advice for getting started with video marketing from the ground up. Starting with developing a value proposition which is translatable to a video message, audience members will learn best practices for video marketing including all too common mistakes to avoid during the creation process. Traditional video production as well as alternatives, including animation software will be explored. Issues surrounding accessibility will be addressed, as well as techniques for promoting and assessing the impact of library marketing videos.
