ALA Unit/Subunit: YALSA
Meeting Type: Program
Cost: Included with full conference registration.
2018 marks YALSA’s Teens’ Top Ten fifteenth year! We will be celebrating all things Teens’ Top Ten in this interactive program. We will begin with an overview of the program, telling about the many features of the program. Even if your library is not one of those participating in the teen reader groups, all libraries can utilize the resources provided by the Teens’ Top Ten. We will discuss how using the program in your library will help you advocate for your teens and increase teen involvement in your collections and programs, both of which are key components to YALSA’s Future Services Report: A Call to Action.
Each participant will go back to their libraries armed with programming ideas, collection development tools, and additional resources. We will host breakout sessions to develop additional programming ideas and resources to for all to take home with them, as we will accumulate the ideas and be sure to post them on the event’s page. We will offer suggestions to be utilized in any libraries, and how you might be able to adapt them to suit both public and school libraries. Lastly, we will end the session with a rousing session of trivia to test your knowledge of the Teens’ Top Ten program—there will be prizes up for grabs!
