ALA Unit/Subunit: LITA

Library management often encourages units to form close connections and socialize outside of work in an effort to stave off librarian burnout and increase the productivity and satisfaction of their faculty and staff. In an environment where advancing your career often means transitioning to another university, how do you maintain those close-knit relationships when you no longer work for the same institution, or even in the same state? Harnessing the social power of the internet, through platforms like Facebook Messenger, Skype, Google Drive, Slack, Asana, Trello, Padlet and good old fashioned email, our little group has maintained productivity despite our new positions and institutions. We’ve worked on everything from conference presentations and proceedings to ACRL book chapters and book proposals, and even a few innovative outreach programs. Join in as the panelists discuss platforms for maintaining contact and collaboration across geographic distances and institutions.
