Treating everyone equally doesn't mean treating people the same. Let's face it, teens who use the library are different from the rest of your customers. Where will I go to school? How will I pay for my education? Can I ever afford to live on my own? These are just some of the questions racing through a teenagers mind each day. The constant juggle of family, social, educational, and professional responsibilities can take a significant tole on a teen, and many lack the skills to effectively manage and cope with such high levels of stress.
In this session we will share strategies that can help you serve your community and programming ideas that can get your library on the right track. We'll discuss staff trainings that can help you identify a youth in crisis and how to effectively intervene as well as share programming ideas that can help get you on your way to supporting positive mental health in your community.
