Interested in making your library more inclusive? Consult the experts – people with disabilities! Our panel of librarians, with and without disabilities, can help you identify the self-advocates in your community, create linkages with self-advocacy agencies and develop a plan to include people with disabilities in the planning of your library’s services. The panelist will discuss:
1. The necessity and logistics of involving self advocates in staff training. Hear from an experienced manager on the logistics of finding self-advocates and developing meaningful training
2. Tapping into your existing assets by reaching out to staff with disabilities. Discover how we can help you transform your library.
3. The benefits and challenges of incorporating people with disabilities into your volunteer programs and advisory boards. Learn from our experiences.
After the panel, find a mentor and create a plan to implement @ your library so you can hit the ground running when you get home.
