In 2017, Joe Marquez and Annie Downey were selected for the first Future of Libraries Fellowship from ALA’s Center for the Future of Libraries. The Fellowship provided them with an opportunity to expand their library service design heuristics, which have grown out from their 2015 article “Service Design: An Introduction to a Holistic Assessment Methodology of Library Services,” into a new set of cards designed to help professionals quickly address emerging technologies and services as well as improve traditional library programs, services, and collections. This session will explore the process and uses of these heuristics for professionals in all types of libraries.
