Auburn Avenue Research Library - Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System
Born and raised in The Bronx, New York and currently living in the Atlanta metropolitan area, Victor E. Simmons, Jr., is the Library Administrator for the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System's (AFPLS) Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History (AARL). AARL was the first public library in the Southeast to offer specialized reference and archival collections dedicated to the study and research of African American culture and history and of other peoples of African descent. Mr. Simmons has over 23 years of public library service working, for both the New York Public Library as well as the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. He has held various positions throughout his library career including time as a Page, Clerk, Adult and Youth Services Librarian, as well as managing numerous Libraries.
