Post Doctorate Scholar
Oregon State University
Hyoungsu Park is Post Doctorate scholar in Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU). He achieved PhD at the same university in 2016 with the study about the probabilistic tsunami hazards and damage assessment at Cascadia Subduction Zone. He obtained a Bachelor and Master degree of civil engineering at University of Seoul in S. Korea. Before coming to OSU he had been a research in the coastal engineering company in S. Korea for 6 years.
Dr. Park currently interesting in tsunami resilience study in coastal area including the estimate of the damage, functionality, and risk on the built-environments with a community scale. In addition, he is interesting in the improvement of ASCE standards for tsunami and storm surge run-up, and for calculating flood loads due to extreme hurricane wave climates considering various waves and surges conditions, and tsunami loads on the structure induced from debris, shielding and openings on the response of coastal structures.
As a PhD student, and continuous Postdoc at OSU he had joined several physical experiments projects performed at Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory in OSU, and obtained physical modeling experiences and also published peer review journals. He is now pursuing to improve the understanding of wave and structure interactions through both physical experiments and CFD modeling (e.g. OpenFOAM).
