An innovative type of composite groynes made of timber logs of hard wood species fixed to continuously driven steel tubular piles filled with concrete has been proposed. Case studies on application of such composite groynes coupled with beach nourishment for stabilizing beaches along Dubai coast are presented in this paper. Further, the performance of the implemented stabilization schemes, evaluated through comparisons between the numerical model (LITLINE) predicted shorelines and measured data is also presented.
