Foreshore Sand Transport
This work presents the results of an experimental investigation on the e ffects of
a sequence of sea states of different energy on beach morphodynamics, wave overtopping and forces at a nearly vertical seawall at the back of a sandy beach. The experiments were carried out in the Large Wave Flume at Leibniz Universitat Hannover (Germany), within
the Hydralab+ project ICODEP. The layout consisted of a 10/1 seawall and a sandy foreshore with an
initial 1:15 slope. Three sequences of sea states were simulated.
The measurements included waves, beach morphology, sediment transport, overtopping, forces, and pressure on the wall.
