The Niigata West coast in Japan, which suffered beach erosion in the past, is now protected by submerged breakwaters. A future shoreline prediction showed that owing to sea level rise and land subsidence, the shoreline will retreat 60 m over the next 100 years. In this study, we numerically investigated the effects of countermeasures against the erosion and showed that even a 1-m increase in the crown height of submerged breakwater is effective.
