Our presentation will provide an overview of the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia's flood resilience study. The city has taken a strategic approach to identifying policy and engineering strategies to improve short- and long-term resilience. The study consisted of three key phases to 1) identify existing and future flood impacts, 2) to identify policy and engineering strategies; and 3) establishing a framework to implement preferred strategies. Through the process, the city completed foundational analyses to support increased design standards to accommodate future sea level and rainfall conditions. Key elements of the work and lessons-learned will be highlighted.
