Accurate 3D wave propagation models that take into account nonlinear and dispersive effects are required for the design of coastal structures and the evaluation of coastal risks. In this work, a fully nonlinear potential flow model is extended to 3D using scattered nodes to maintain the flexibility of the approach to be able to apply the model to irregularly shaped domains. Horizontal derivatives are estimated using radial basis functions, and the robustness of this method is demonstrated by comparing simulation results to measurements from two wave tank experiments with significant nonlinear and dispersive effects.
