Coastal Wave Modeling
Around the world, offshore wind farms are being developed with the objective of increasing the contribution to renewable energies. New challenges will arise, especially during storm conditions that directly affect the estimation of wind turbine design parameters. Bathymetric features at wind farm sites have a strong influence on waves and currents, controlling the propagation and dissipation of flows during normal and extreme conditions. In this presentation, a high resolution satellite derived bathymetry dataset is presented for a case study along the west coast of Denmark. These data will be used to assess its added value for detailed spectral wave modelling.
