This paper reports on an experimental study conducted in a large-scale wave flume facility aimed at extending our insights in surfzone turbulence dynamics. Wave conditions involved one regular monochromatic wave and one bichromatic wave group, and velocities were measured throughout the breaking region using optical and acoustic instruments. Results will be shown of time-averaged and intra-wave velocities and turbulence. It is shown that wave breaking-generated turbulence decays over multiple wave cycles and that turbulence is successively transported downwards, consequently breaking generated turbulence under the largest wave in the group takes about three wave cycles to reach the near-bed region.
