This paper discusses the morphologic response to Hurricane Irma on beaches and tidal inlets in Southwest Florida, USA. Hurricane Irma made a landfall on Southwest Florida on September 10, 2017. The storm track and wind circulation influenced water levels and waves intensity with varying conditions over a relatively short time. The morphologic response to the storm included beach and dune erosion with sand over wash landward into dune vegetation, coastal lagoons and estuaries. This paper discusses two case studies for storm related morphology changes at a sand spit in Marco Island and a small tidal inlet in Naples, Florida.
