Sandspit, Ridges, and Protrusion
Mega-nourishment is an innovative soft coastal protection method. The first mega-nourishment application took place in the Netherlands and was named Sand Engine. The concept of mega-nourishment is to redistribute via the local hydrodynamic forcing their massive volume along a beach, and provide coastal protection at regional scale.
This study aims at: (i) developing a semi-analytical solution to the one-line model for modelling the mega-nourishment morphodynamic evolution, and better understanding the underlying costal processes; (ii) applying an ARMA stochastic model for extending in time the recorded wave time-series near Sand Engine, and then attempt predictions of the Sand Engine’s morphodynamic evolution.
