Tidal Inlet Morphology
Understanding ebb tidal delta dynamics is important to keep shipping lanes open and simultaneously provide shelter for the area behind. During an extensive field campaign in September-October 2017, five frames were deployed in the vicinity of a tidal inlet. Frames were equipped with upward and downward looking ADCP’s and ADV’s to capture the full velocity profile and multiple OBS’s to get an estimate of the sediment concentration. Results of sediment transport at the end of an ebb channel will be presented, to investigate the direction and magnitude of wave-induced and tide-induced sediment transport for different tidal phases.
