Extreme Wave Events
Wave transformation surrogates were generated using offshore significant wave height, peak period and wave direction and nearshore water levels as inputs and nearshore height, period, and direction as outputs at specific spatial locations. Kriging was used to construct the surrogates. Each training set was transformed using CMS-Wave spectral wave transformation model. Design of experiments techniques were used to optimize and minimize the number of simulations. The surrogate reproduced continuous nearshore measurements well using offshore buoy and nearshore tide gage measurements as inputs.
