Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) are typically used for detailed numerical modelling of wave-structure interactions. By applying a 2-way coupling with a fast wave propagation model, and using newly developed open boundaries, it is possible to reduce the computation time significantly and provide accurate wave boundary conditions for the SPH domain. This methodology is applied to the SPH model DualSPHysics, which is coupled to the wave propagation model OceanWave3D. The resulting 2-way coupled model is demonstrated and validated with theoretical and experimental data.
