Wave Effects on Inlet and Bay
Lake Erie has the fourth largest surface area, shallowest water depth and smallest volume among the five Great Lakes in North America. This study aims to investigate the coastal morphology response of the study area to seiche, initiated by storm surge for extreme events. To quantify the seiche-induced morphological evolution, the comparisons of the bottom profiles are made using CSHORE and XBeach morhodynamics models and total volume of the sediment transportation is determined for the selected beach. Since the magnitude of low frequency oscillations varies along the Lake Erie shoreline their contributions to the nearshore morphodynamics vary spatially, as well.
