We use a suite of 2-D coupled and nested surge and wave models to provide high-resolution hazard maps at the local scale (Rhode Island, USA) associated to extreme storms. We use the phase resolving wave model, FUNWAVE-TVD to propagate waves across the inundation zone. Results of the simulations using FUNWAVE are compared with simulations using STWAVE, highlighting the differences in predicted coastal damages using a phase average or a phase resolving model. Coastal damages are assessed using the U.S Corps of Engineers damage functions. The dune erosion associated to the storm is modeled using XBeach.
