This presentation will review the characteristics of nuisance flooding on the US east coast. Past data will be used to illustrate the existing nature of recurrent tidal flooding. Methods will then be reviewed that allow extension into the future for given sea level rise scenarios. The main take away is that most US coastal cities are now at the beginning of a time period that will produce dramatic increases in the number of annual flood events, even withe a small amount of additional sea level rise.
