It is well known that impacts measured at small scale and with fresh water may deviate substantially from real scale with salt water. This may have large impact on design forces and needed size of elements of a structure. At the harbour of Den Oever a stepped revetment has been designed based on results of small and real scale model tests. Smalle scale model tests have been performed at a wave flume at Deltares and real scale tests have been performed with the new wave run-up simulator (Van der Meer et al, 2015).
