The fixation mechanism of a small river mouth in a wave-shelter zone was studied. On the Moriya coast, Japan, a small river flows into the sea, and its mouth is stably fixed at a location behind the reef composed of hard rocks. Field observation on the beach topography and the formation of the stream behind the rocks was carried out at this river mouth, and the wave height distribution around the rocks was calculated using the angular spreading method, and the reason why the river mouth is stably fixed at this location was investigated.
