Typhoon Lionrock in 2016 was the first typhoon which attacked Tohoku area of Japan from the Pacific Ocean side in the observation history of Japan. This typhoon event caused big damages in Tohoku area with accompanying heavy rain. In order to investigate its effect on the coastal area, field observations was conducted on Sendai Coast soon after the typhoon passing. And also aerial photographs taken several times before and after the typhoon were analyzed to see its effect on the beach processes. The results of the investigations will be reported in this presentation.
