A Pressed-in pipe pile wall was installed in an existing seawall for widening Japan’s National Highway 134. This regional beachfront highway was quite busy and had to be kept open for traffic all the time. The Press-in piling proved to be a highly effective reconstruction and retrofitting method for the deteriorating concrete seawall especially with limited construction access on this project. With the rising sea level, this application will benefit many more coastal seawall projects to come in the future.
