WS-002 - Technical Workshop: Preparing for Landscape Architect Registration Exam Section 4

This workshop will cover the LARE Section 4 specifications, including a primer on grading techniques, one of the most challenging parts of the exam. This session debunks myths, clarifies expectations, and demonstrates how to develop a clear and effective process for taking Section 4 of the exam.

$100 per person by 6/29; $125 by 9/14; $150 after 9/14

Thomas J. Nieman, PhD, FASLA, is a Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture at the University of Kentucky. He is a licensed landscape architect, president of the Kentucky Landscape Architecture Licensing Board and former member of the CLARB Board of Directors. In addition, he conducts LARE review sessions at the ASLA Annual Meetings, LABash, numerous states and Puerto Rico. He serves on the ASLA LARE Prep Committee.

Angela has co-presented the Landscape Architecture Registration Exam (LARE) Section 4 Grading Drainage and Construction Documents Workshop at ASLA Conferences beginning in Boston. She also teaches LARE review courses at UCLA. In addition, Angela has been a ten year member of ASLA National's LARE Committee.

Angela has over thirty years practicing landscape architecture in California and Arizona. She has a wide range of expertise with her public projects including municipality, education, habitat and revegetation, parks and recreation and infrastructure. Her private projects include master planned community, streetscape and recreation. She is a Senior Associate at IMA Design, Newport Beach, California.

Emily M. O'Mahoney, FASLA, LEED AP


Emily M. O’Mahoney, FASLA, is a partner with 2GHO, Gentile Glas Holloway O’Mahoney & Assoc. in Jupiter Florida. She has been involved since the mid ‘90s with ASLA particularly is supporting emerging professionals. She has organized and instructed the Florida Chapter LARE Review Seminar for over 20 years and is a main supporter of FLAA. She has served, with passion as Chapter President, Trustee, the WILA PPN Chair and Officer and current Chair of the ASLA Professional Practice Committee. A 1980 graduate from the University of Florida, Emily has years in private practice and raised 3 children with her husband.
