Dr. Thaker completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. In an effort to improve the quality, access, and efficiency of cancer care in patients’ communities, Dr. Thaker also completed a Fellowship in Healthcare Administration, where he focused on healthcare economics, economic analyses, large-scale alternative payment models (APM) and value-based cancer care delivery initiatives. He worked with national leaders within the Institute for Cancer Care Innovation at MD Anderson and the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. Dr. Thaker has published nearly 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, editorials, commentaries, and book chapters. He is a radiation oncologist in Arizona Oncology and The US Oncology Network, where he leads efforts in value-based radiation oncology, managed care, clinical pathways development, and piloting of alternative payment model programs. He is Chair of the American Brachytherapy Society Socioeconomic Committees and Socioeconomic Sessions. He was recently appointed Health Policy Fellowship status through ASTRO and works in ASTRO's Code Development and Valuation and Code Utilization and Application Sub-Committees.
