Biography:
Lester J Peters MD FASTRO
Dr Peters is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. His background includes a research fellowship in radiobiology at the CRC Gray Laboratory, London (1972-5) and academic leadership as Chairman of Radiation Oncology at the M D Anderson Cancer Center, Houston (1982-1995) and Peter Mac (1995-2002). His long time research focus has been on trials of applied radiobiology in the treatment of head and neck cancer He has over 300 papers published in peer-reviewed journals as well as nearly 100 invited papers and book chapters. His professional honours include the Gold Medals of ASTRO and RANZCR, the Regaud Medal of ESTRO, and the civil award of Member of the Order of Australia for services to radiation oncology.
