This session was proudly submitted as a joint session with the Turkish Society of Radiation Oncology(TSRO).The increasing patient load in queue and/or the amount of medically compromised patients in low-to-middle-income countries (LMICs) with limited resources and also in national remote locations in USA decrease the accessibility and accommodation of radiotherapy to an important portion of patient population. Therefore, hypofractionated approach to eligible patient population would help to increase the patients served by radiotherapy in definitive and palliative manner. However, selection criteria for hypofractionated treatments play a key role to decrease the acute and late side effects related with radiotherapy, especially in low and middle income countries with limited resources. Thus, practical tips and guidelines applicable in many practices around the world to minimize or avoid these radiotherapy related side effects will be shared and discussed in this session by the experts in a case based scenarios. The goal of this session is to cover and discuss appropriate patient selection criteria for hypofractionated radiotherapy and discuss how to deliver it in details of technique, dose constraints and fractionation to provide a ground for the best possible outcomes for head/neck, thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers. With this session, the national and international participants will have an understanding of the steps for safely implementation of more advanced technology in context of appropriate patient selection for hypofractionated /stereotactic radiotherapy and the expected outcome of prognosis and side effects.
