Panel session will update the practicing clinician with respect to the ever-evolving genomic profiling data in breast cancer and its application to the therapeutic management of the breast cancer patient in terms of the three subspecialties of breast oncology - that of medical, surgical and radiation oncology. The experts will elucidate how molecular subtyping is changing the role of the oncologist in each of the 3 branches of cancer treatment. As well the panel will address the practical issues related to translating research findings into clinical practice in a timely fashion.
- Describe relevant genomic/molecular subtyping of breast cancer as opposed to the classic categorization via TNM staging.
- Assess the utility of molecular subtyping of breast cancer in the application of the genomic information into the treatment paradigm of caring for a patient with breast cancer.
