Cancer stem-like cells contribute to disease progression. There are multiple ways to enrich for these cells and the term cancer stem-like cell is too often used loosely. In this session, we aim to define cancer stem-like cells functionally and review mechanisms of treatment resistance. We will discuss potential therapeutic strategies such as altering radiation schedule and use of targeted agents to better kill the cancer stem-like population.
