In this course we will present the modern approach to diagnosis and treatment of melanomas with emphasis in recent advances in the medical, surgical and radiation therapy management. There will be an update in the subject of neuroimaging of brain tumors. An overview of the present training of physicists and radiation therapy technologists in Latin America and financing involved will be presented. Patient safety in radiation oncology and the increased risk of medical practice liability in developing countries will be the subject of two presentations. The economic challenges of acquiring and maintaining modern radiation oncology equipment and its infrastructure in developing countries of Latin America will be discussed.
